What the video visit can help with
Explain the child’s age, when symptoms began and what is different from normal. Have temperature readings and medication names ready. Describe drinking, urination and activity without waiting for the child to explain everything.
When an examination or testing may be needed
A video visit cannot replace every pediatric examination. Ear or throat testing, breathing assessment and other hands-on checks may be needed. The clinician can explain where the child should be evaluated.
Discussing treatment
The appropriate plan depends on age, history and the clinical concern. Do not assume adult medicines or doses apply to a child. This service description does not promise that a pediatric specialist will be assigned.
When to get care in person
A baby younger than three months with a temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher needs prompt medical assessment. Trouble breathing, blue lips, unusual difficulty waking or significant dehydration also calls for urgent care.
